Hello World!

Welcome to the life and chronicles of My Jersey Boys and me, B (the only girl who hangs out with them). Our original mission was to prove that not all of Jersey is obsessed with GTL. Now it's kind of become the place where we share our random thoughts, ridiculous stories, regular quote updates, and maybe a picture or video here and there. There's always something going on...

Love from,
The one and only,
B

Tearing up my heart...

Posted by The one and only "B"... on 11:21 PM
Hello World!

Today T made me a pop-up heart... And then stabbed it. When I asked why, he responded with something along the lines of that I have a hole in my heart. Who knows.

Love from,
I just hope he doesn't use his knife on me... And stops lighting cardboard on fire.

5 movies you probably didn't go see

Posted by cmoney on 4:47 PM
Drive – (2011)

This is by far my favorite movie to come out this year. I’ve seen it six times before it has come out on dvd and I can’t wait to get it when it does just so I can watch the extras. Ryan Gossling plays a stunt man who works as a getaway driver on the side. This movie is NOT a blockbuster action movie like it was marketed as, it is a much slower suspenseful movie, but the violent scenes that are in it make it worth the wait. This movie was not only a great story with great acting but is also full of clever foreshadowing, fantastic directing (The color pallets throughout the movie are just one example of this), and an ire yet memorable soundtrack that will get stuck in your in head by the time the movie is over.

Sunshine – (2007)

R is the one who told me to go and watch this movie and thank god he did, aside from the simply beautiful images the music was incredibly good, ire but still somehow uplifting. Sunshine is a sci-fi movie about a team of astronauts, mostly Asian, attempting to unload a weapon of massive proportion into the sun in order to keep it from going out. It reminded a lot of a courage the cowardly dog episode I once saw so I was very excited to see it. This movie, although seems played out, has an incredibly unpredictable story arc that keeps you guessing what is going on or what is going to happen. There are no big name actors in this movie, unless you count a young Chris Evans, but they all do a great job of making you care for the character which makes it harder when they um well you’ll see

Green Street Hooligans (Hooligans) – (2005)

This movie is all about brotherhood, brotherhood and fighting, brotherhood, fighting and football. Now by football I do mean soccer, but because this movie takes place in England and is about the Green Street Elite, a football firm responsible for fighting other teams firms to establish dominance among hardcore fans, I will refer to it as football. Starring Elijah Wood as an unfairly expelled Harvard student; he moves across the pond to merry old England to live with his sister. There he meets his brother in-law’s brother and rededicates his life to the firm. The firm teaches Elijah to trust people, some people, and to never back down when things don’t go his way.

Attack the Block – (2011)

Another movie that takes place in England, Attack is about a gang of kids no more than 15 years old that live in a very ghetto-ish part of the city. After an alien lands on their block they must defend their home by any means necessary. The kids quickly realize they’re in over their heads and go into more of a survival mode than hunting mode. Never before have more badass kids fought aliens like this, not to mention the crazy drug dealer chasing them around.

Young Frankenstein – (1974)

Gene Wilder plays Dr. Franken stein (Frank-en-steen) a professor haunted by the supposed experiments of his famous grandfather of the same name. He learns he inherits his grandfather’s castle and while visiting stumbles onto his reanimation work and with the help from his grandfather’s live-in assistances pick up where the great doctor left off. This black and white movie is filled with great acting by Wilder, Peter Boyle, as well as a cameo by Gene Hackman and jokes that seem corny now but were relatively new back in the 70’s. This is a movie that helped lead the way to other classic “spoof” movies such as Airplane, Space Balls, and Scary Movie. So if you are still not convinced how about seeing Peter Boyle (Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond) as ferocious yet coordinated monster.

In addition to D's post about Cheeburger...

Posted by The one and only "B"... on 12:50 PM
Hello world,

I just want to make a quick clarification to D's post, I noticed ALL of the old women staring us down. Every time I turned my head, I found someone staring me down. It was awkward... Very, VERY, awkward. Even by my standards. Halfway through our dinner, I quietly asked D if he had noticed all the people staring at us, and was relieved to find out he had. Although, I was kind of hoping I was imagining their stares.

By the way, if you ever get the chance to go to Cheeburger Cheeburger, get an Amaretto and Banana Foster milkshake. It is "delectable".

Love from,
The cheese and jalapeno dip sauces for the fries are also very tasty.

Old People Eat Chee[se]burgers too

Posted by D on 12:23 PM
Last night at Cheeburger, Cheeburger, I was reminded once again why old people suck. After 3 months of grad school, I've come to define an old person as anybody over the age of 25. Apparently, after the age of 25, you become tired... all the time. After class/work, you come home and go to sleep. Leaving your apartment after 6pm is bold and has the potential to make the following day disastrous. 1 drink too many and you'll be blackout for a day and hungover for a week.

But the beauty of my old people resentment is that it extends to old people of all ages. Last night, Tk, T, B, R, and I were challenged to a stare-down by various middle-aged women at the tables around us. I doubt it surprises any of us anymore when our group's presence is known to the entire restaurant. We are what you might call "scene-causers." By we, I mean any group of us. And by us, I mean T and only T. T has a way of speaking in public that makes it seem like he is speaking for all of us. His voice is so loud and penetrating that we might as well be speaking in collective group voice. Unfortunately (or fortunately), T is a little less tempered than I am, so when he says something ridiculous (or offensive), we are all held responsible. We've tried before to limit T to a 5 on the Offenso-Meter (1-10 Scale). Our visit to the Brazilian Steakhouse comes to mind. I suppose none of us considered Cheeburger, Cheeburger to be a particularly high class establishment (the dress code is underwear at minimum). But then I suppose none of us thought Cheeburger was where middle-aged couples come for their date nights.

In between discussions about outrageous milkshake combinations, peanut butter cheeseburgers, and plastering C's face all over the walls of the restaurant, T was speaking in soft volcanic eruptions in volume and content. Whenever T would peak (before falling back down to suck in another chunk of his diabetes milkshake), each of us individually would notice different women around the restaurant eyeing us down. More than I few times my eyes met the crabby eye wholes of a particularly unhappy lady sitting behind R's right shoulder. B noticed a women to Tk's left. Tk noticed them all. Later on, we all reported what we saw and realized we must have offended the entire restaurant. In their defense, the burger store was pretty empty, so our voices likely carried pretty far. In our defense, old people suck and need to find better places to eat than burger joints where high school and college kids eat.

The Spirit of Christmas...

Posted by StuckintheSeventies423 on 10:18 AM

The first two Home Alone movies are awesome. Not only are they two of the best "family comedies" (that's saying something) but they're also two of the best Christmas movies and they're loaded with tons of memorable characters and moments of pure hilarity. Tis the season... to smash someone in the face with a brick (pretty sure there's a Chris Rock joke in there)!

Look out, Marv!

Damn, that kids fucking accurate!

Things you can't/shouldn't/don't ask your guy friends...

Posted by The one and only "B"... on 6:55 PM
Hello world!!!

So today I have been thinking of things to write about for the blog. I considered writing about any adventures we've had recently (but I decided that would take too long), maybe finding some funny videos to share (still considering doing that one), or maybe writing an opinion post (opinions are easy to write about). Then the perfect idea came to me. I was driving over to CVS, and I was thinking about dying my hair, but didn't know what color I wanted to do. I considered asking one of the boys for their opinion, and then I realized that was a pretty stupid thought. They probably would have no idea what to suggest, and either wouldn't care, or would suggest something ridiculous like "purple". That was when an idea was born! What if I wrote about things I can't/shouldn't/don't ask my guy friends? And so, without further ado, here is the list of things I can't/shouldn't/don't ask my guy friends:

1) What color should I dye my hair (it's the question that inspired this blog post, so of course I listed it first).
2) I don't know what to wear tonight, what do you think I should wear?
3) Hey, since you're going to 7-11, would you mind picking me up a box of tampons? (I would never, EVER, ask them this)
4) Hey! I am in desperate need of new clothes. Want to come shopping with me for four hours while I go from store to store, trying on twenty different items from each place, and constantly pester you with questions like: "Would this look good on me", "How do you feel about this color with my skin tone?", or "does this make me look fat?"... (they would probably rather drink bleach).
5) Hey! Do you want to wake up early tomorrow, grab some coffee, and then go get a mani/pedi? (I'll probably offend some people with this statement, but real men don't get mani/pedi's)
6) Do you think she's prettier than me? (girls would automatically say no, and that she looks like a dirty skank. Guys, well... They'll be honest. Girls don't like honesty.)
7) Why doesn't he like me? (well, probably because instead of having fun at a party, you've been holed up in the bathroom with five other girls, and crying like an idiot... Oh wait, I was supposed to write what guys would say... Right, well... They'd be honest with you too.)
8) Can you hold my purse? (this isn't really a "can't ask", but it's a "shouldn't ask". Unless you really, REALLY, need your hands free, and you only make them hold it for under a minute.)
9) Hey! Do you want to go see Breaking Dawn (or any chick flick) with me?! (just because YOU want to see Taylor Lautner's six pack abs, doesn't mean they do)
And finally, number...
10) Do you want kids? (I actually asked the guys for help on this last one. I asked them what is a question they wouldn't want a girl to ask them. This was R's immediate answer.)

Well, readers. There you have it. These are the questions you can't, shouldn't, and/or don't ask your guy friends....

Love from,
This took longer to write than I thought...
